Saturday Night Live: Japanese Breakfast performs ‘Be Sweet,’ ‘Paprika’
Tonight was the Saturday Night Live finale which permitted Japanese Breakfast to have some moments being the main special guest.
The reason this decision that was made by Lorne Michaels and her producers so intriguing is that for a majority viewers, this show could be a first introduction to the group of pop singers that is led by Michelle Zauner. The first song of the evening featured “Be Sweet,” which is a track that was released earlier in the year. In a flash, it became obvious why the show selected to play them as the final song. The music was generally lively, and we believe the show was planning for a funand celebratory vibe this evening. Alongside Natasha Lyonne’s first appearance as host as host, it also was the final show for many people from the cast.
One thing that was most noticeable to us as audience was how excited Zauner appeared to be on stage. In general, we like our hosts as well as musical guests who truly understand the importance of their appearance in the spotlight. They also, are people who put themselves out there! The opening show was enjoyable and uplifting and we couldn’t expect anything better from somebody who was unfamiliar with the band’s performance prior to the concert this evening.
For the next track …This was one that was a slow, but appropriate for the place it was in the evening. There was a sense of sadness at the finale of the show this evening, which makes sense in light of the goodbyes we saw throughout the evening.
“Paprika” is certainly one of the most unique songs we’ve heard on the show throughout the years, particularly in terms of instruments. There were keyboards, horns as well as an oboe during the chorus.
