WWE currently in talks to sell
One that is among the shocking things in the beginning, following Vince McMahon’s resignation and the hiring by Triple H, Stephanie McMahon as well as Nick Khan into top WWE management positions is the growth of WWE‘s stock. The price jumped by some percentage points in the case of WWE the day before, and was thought by analysts to be an indication that shareholders were expecting WWE to be sold soon.
This raises the question: Is WWE being sold? If it is, to whom will they be selling to? Concerning one of the questions, the answer seems to be not at the moment, at least. In a report by CNBC that was released in the early hours of Tuesday morning, sources informed CNBC that WWE isn’t involved in negotiations for sale at this moment.
The same article the report also CNBC said that McMahon’s departure could result in proposals coming in which could eventually be too tempting for the current WWE management to turn down. Potential conglomerates/corporations that were listed by CNBC as potential buyers were Disney, Warner Brothers Discovery (which currently airs WWE’s rival company, AEW, on TNT and TBS), Paramount Global, Apple, Amazon, Netflix, and CNBC’s parent company, Comcast.
Even prior to when McMahon was dismissed last Friday the possibility regarding WWE having been sold been surfacing everywhere and rumors began to surface with the massive release of the talent of the organization beginning in the month of June. Then, in January Khan admitted that WWE had been approached about a potential sale, but said they did not intend for a sale at this moment. The company has not yet commented on the possibility of selling. WWE higher-up has made any comments on any potential sale following McMahon’s retirement.
The company is also in the process of establishing a new CEO. WWE is expected to go on the business of its usual with Triple H as the new director of creative and Director of Talent Relations, while Stephanie and Khan are co-CEOs of the organization. The first program under the new administration aired on the last night of “WWE Monday Night Raw” was broadcast on Madison Square Garden in New York and the initial Premium Live Event, SummerSlam will take place on Sunday.
