History
Rajkot was established in 1620 by Thakur Sahib Vibhoji Ajoji Jadeja in 1620. He was the great-grandson of Jam Shri Satarsal (Sataji) Vibhaji Jadeja Rajkot was the capital of Saurashtra state from the 15th of April 1948 until 31 October 1956 before a merger into the state of Bombay State on 1 November 1956. Geography
Rajkot is situated at 22.3degN 70.78degE.It is at the average height of 128m (420 feet). The city is situated on the banks of Aji River and Nyari River which is dry during the monsoon months from July through September. The city spans its area 170.00 km2.
Climate
